William Hoyt, Painter
Born in Houston, Bill expressed his artistic talents at an early age, drawing on the cardboard the came in his father's
laundered shirts. His father was in the advertising business, and Bill enjoyed trips to his office where he received
impromptu drawing lessons from illustrator Mark Storm.
As with many artists, Bill raised and provided for a family, but his art was never far from his mind. He opened two
galleries and frame shops in Dallas and, since retirement, has been painting full time. He has been in a number of
regional shows and has won several prizes for his efforts.
In an effort to involve the viewer, Bill's paintings have a lot of emotional content. He explains that the loss of inhibition
comes with age. When you reach maturity you are less concerned about looking foolish and more willing to hang your feelings
and experiences out for people to look at and find meaning in. We all share the human experience, and that experience allows
viewers to connect with Bill's art.
